I have been reading this blog about a family that has had a family night for the past three weeks. It has been really fun to see how their family is growing closer and embracing the idea of really enjoying how God has made each of them different. My favorite part of the nights are they have themes. Like last week they had Under the Sea night and everything went together. They had octopus hotdogs on shells & cheese, then the children dressed up in there swimming suits. They ate off a table that had a beach towel on it. And the room full of giant fish cut outs all over. You can just tell this has been a night of family connection. My challenge is for you all to get together and pick one night that is just you and your family. When was the last time you had a family night??

I say thats work together and start recycling. We already take the pop cans for the playground. But lets see what else we could reuse. Let I challenge you all to look at things your mom throws away after cooking that you could turn into something. Like the other day I was making cookies and used the rest of the peanut butter and instead of throwing the peanut butter out I decided to wash out the container and use it to put quarters, pennies, dimes, and nickels in. And then I can bring it to church and put it in the offering for 14th & chestnut or for Congo. Also I made a reused caps and clips to make something that 1st & 2nd graders will need for there lesson this week. Look and talk with your parents about recycling and decided what to do.

So this week has been really great for me. I have got to see three of you. I have really been enjoying getting to sit down and talk with you and your families. My favorite part is when we sit down and read scripture together. It is learning more about how the Church family works together and how we are bringing together the body of the church. Each of us must work together to function in the church. It reminds me of the hand teaching of: here is the church, here is the staple, here is the doors that hold in all the people. You guys are such energizer for me and this makes me work even harder for God. I just wanted to say thanks to Eli, Abby, and Jessica this week for bringing new smiles to my face.

This past weekend on NICK was the Kids Choice Awards. There was a lot of slime and stars but there were a few moments for me that really stuck out. I have been watching the highlights and two people that stuck out to me was Cameron Diaz and Miley Cyrus. Cameron Diaz won the award for who children want to be most like. Well I don’t think that is a good positive role model but during her speech she did have the children say the following “We are the future and the future is bright.” This is so true. You guys are the future and the future is very bright because God is leading you to great new heights. You guys can move mountains and do great things through Him. This brings me to my next favorite person in Hollywood. Miley Cyrus or should I say Hannah Montona is a great role model. When she received her awards she thanks Jesus Christ her Lord and Saviour. Miley is kid just like you guys trying to live her life following God everyday. I know that God has a great plan in store for Miley and I pray that God will use her to influence many other children and adults in this world. Even though you guys are big stars you can do great things also. Keep up your eyes on Him and you can do anything. Everyday you guys are God’s winners!!! Your award is to be with Him in heaven.

Hey, don’t forget to start smiling to everyone that you come across this month. We want to show God’s love through a smile to everyone we meet. We want to remember to be kind and nice to everyone we meet. You are here to build your life ON, FOR, and THROUGH the Rock, Jesus Christ. He wants us to Love Him and Love Others. We can change this world step by step by starting with smiling at everyone. These smiles can be ways of starting up conversations with people. Or maybe you want to hand out something little to everyone you see.

As I look at my clock it was 5 am, and I didn’t have to be up for another 30 minutes but I was wide awake. So I decided to walk my dog, Samson, early and this time I took my cell phone with me also. As I put on Samson lease I find myself feeling very aware of everything I had to do today. Then I step out of my door to find that my entire staircase outside was covered with ice. It didn’t worry me too much because my stairs have been covered before and I knew I would be able to make it. Well then I noticed that my dog was started to slide so I decided to tell him to come back and then all of a sudden I was off….like a horse in a race. I hit every single step. I’m sure I was screaming but I don’t remember. (And I just know if someone would have video taped me they would have won a contest) And while I was falling down the stairs I heard my dog bark out and saw him out of the corner of my eye running away, leash and all. Then I hit the cement step at the bottom. And when I woke, I must have been out for a couple seconds or minutes, I found myself laying on my back on the sidewalk and my dog was by my head. I started to feel a rush of fear and I was scared……and then I started to cry out.I first remembered that I had my cell phone and I reach and got it from my pocket but no one answered my phone calls….it was just too early. I felt very alone and didn’t know if I could move. I just laid there crying and looking up into the dark morning sky. And I started to feel calm even through the tears knowing that I wasn’t alone. I was very being held closely by God…..I took a deep breath, held on to my dog, and rolled over and got up slowly. Sure my ankle really hurt but I could walk. I didn’t break anything…..thanks God.
For the rest of the day I could feel more and more of things start to hurt from my back, my neck, my bottom, and my knees…..but nothing was broken. I also thought of all the people in my life and the things that I do…….I have to make sure that I spend every minute trusting and priasing the Lord. He protects me everyday not only through falls down stairs. God is always their holding me and protecting me…….and He protects all of us……every second, minutes, hour, day, weeks, months…….we must not forget.
